Yvette Robinson Bio (cont.)

Yvette L. Robinson is the Founder and President of The Yveson Group LLC. Prior to starting The Yveson Group, Ms. Robinson spent many years working towards her passion of Urban Community Renewal in various capacities. Most recently, Ms. Robinson is serving as  the Housing Specialist for Cambridge, Maryland where she has successfully secured more that $5 million in funding for housing and community development, new home construction projects, homeowner repairs, public infrastructure improvements and so much more.

 

After envisioning and developing the mission and framework for the CNRP, Ms. Robinson spearheaded community engagement process that led to the official adopted “Cambridge Neighborhood Revitalization Plan” 1 , currently used as the guide for planning and development.


Ms. Robinson was appointed by Emergency Financial Managers and served under 2 Mayors as the Director of the Department of Community & Economic Development for the City of Highland Park, Michigan. During her tenure Ms. Robinson successfully reorganized the department and brought in over $18 million in state and federal grants for development projects
in the City. Additionally, she worked with State and County representatives to leverage new businesses that created investments of over $20 million and new jobs for residents in the City of Highland Park.


Ms. Robinson has served on several political campaigns and other political & civic endeavors on the local, state and federal levels in efforts to advance urban renewal. These endeavors have afforded her the opportunity to serve in many noteworthy positions. These positions included serving in Washington D.C. as an Operations Site Manager for on the 55 th
Presidential Inaugural Committee, then serving as a White House Appointee, where she was appointed to the U.S Department of Education: Office for Civil Rights.

 

During her White House Appointment in Washington D.C., she was assigned to FEMA Headquarters as a Private Sector Specialist on temporary housing for the relief efforts following Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Prior to her venture into political and civic positions, Ms. Robinson served for many years
as the Education Director for a Detroit-based Community Development Corporation (CDC) where she mentored more than 300 youth in the Central Detroit neighborhood through various programs, camps, and workforce development.


Ms. Robinson proudly proclaims that she is a Wolverine as she graduated with honors from the UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN receiving two degrees; Bachelor of Art in Sociology Political Science (B.A.) and a Master in Public Policy (MPP). Her Masters concentration was Economic Policy which she complemented with her Thesis study on “Presidential Administrations and the Urban Agenda”.

Above all, Ms. Robinson is the proud mother of 2 incredible children, son, David (10) and bonus adopted-daughter, Ladybug (4) – they are her inspiration and drive to serve and empower communities for a bright today  a better tomorrow.
